This paper defines a project introduced in several meetings before; it arranges the for-profit institutions of higher education development on valuable stages, by means of differentiated standards, in order to avoid treating equal the unequal. It offers taxonomy built with temporary, strategic and contextual criteria, which recognize the sector's complexity, its development dynamism, evolution, composition and diversity. It begins with its growing phenomena and demand absorption; later, previous attempts to classified institutions are analyzed and, finally, leads to the taxonomy, which pretends to explain their missions' accomplishment and the standards for their evaluation and regulation.
