Abstract

BARREYRO, Gladys Beatriz. La educación superior en Brasil: raza, renta y escuela media como factores de desigualdad. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.146, pp.53-64. ISSN 0185-2760.

The inequalities of Brazilian higher education, extracted from the official data, organized and presented in tables and graphics shows that Brazilian higher education is an elite's system and its confirmed by the inequalities existing in the composition of the campi's population. The data analysis shows that the percentages of white, black and mulatto people who study at higher education institutions do not preserve the same proportion of those observed in the whole country's population. One can observe that the majority of students in public universities come from private high schools while students in private universities came from public high schools. However, public universities are free and have the best quality.

Keywords : Inequities in higher education; brazilian higher education.
