This article, tells, analyses, and compares the reforms made to the Education System Coordination in Brazil, during the presidency of Fernando Henrique Cardoso -both terms-and the government of Lula da Silva. It reviews two main subjects, first, the academic community as an active part to evaluate terms, that is, to apply to others and themselves the test created; and second, the impact on the academic profession due to changes on institutions asses matters. There is, as the authors show, a continuity thread but also ruptures and the need for a final balance that they undertake and lead to a discussion.
