MUNOZ GARCIA, Humberto. Public University: power, relationships and political practices. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.165, pp.165-184.  Epub 16-Abr-2020. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2019.165.59065.

The members of the Higher Education Seminar of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have agreed to highlight the political nature of the public university in Mexico. This paper discusses how power is constituted in the governing structure of the public and autonomous universities in the country. This work is based on academic backgrounds that have studied university policy. It addresses a series of notions which have been used to analyze power in institutional functioning ordinary times. This study examines the political operation of university presidents and their relationships with the university community; in addition, it observes the power relationships between the academic life actors, from which political practices that even manifest in everyday life arise. Finally, the article formulates hypotheses in order to guide new analyses that explore how institutional stability has been achieved, being this one of the goals pursued by those who command the university political scene.
