Resumen

CANTU GONZALEZ, Valeria  y  RODRIGUEZ MACIAS, Juan Carlos. Evaluation of knowledge on health in middle schools of Baja California. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2018, vol.40, n.162, pp.37-53. ISSN 0185-2698.

In Mexico, the standard curriculum for high school education in 2011 in cluded health issues considered socially relevant, but there is no empiri cal evidence as to the mastery students gained of this material. The study sought to identify the degree of knowledge of health presented by students graduating from junior high school. The investigation was quantitative, and based on a non experimental-correlational design. A graduation exam in health (known as EXEEBAS) was applied to 14,545 8th-grade students in Baja California. The findings indicate that very few students have mastered the knowledge on health established in the 2011 Study Plan, and suggest the need for further research into the extent to which the curriculum is followed in areas defined as socially important, and the ways these are assessed.
