Resumen
JIMENEZ MORENO, José Alfonso. The quality of basic Mexican education from a national and international perspective: Reading skills in 3rd grade of primary school. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2017, vol.39, n.157, pp.162-180. ISSN 0185-2698.
The main objective of this research is to contribute to the debate on the qua- lity of Mexican education, particularly in regard to reading in the third grade of primary school. For this purpose we present the findings of an analysis of two assessments on this issue at the same level of education: the Educational Achievement and Quality Exam (EXCALE) and the Third Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (TERCE) in relation to their approach, methodology and ways of communication of results. The comparison makes it possible to contribute broadly to the discussions on the methodological process of the assessment, to the way in which results are communicated in order to be a relevant input into decision-making for education policy, as well as to the dynamism inherent in the quality of education used in the assessment processes.
