Abstract
RODRIGUEZ ROCHA, Eduardo. Romper la trampa de la reproducción Auto-eficacia en la transición a los bachilleratos públicos en la Ciudad de México. El caso de los jóvenes provenientes de hogares de bajos recursos socioeconómicos. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2017, vol.39, n.155, pp.123-140. ISSN 0185-2698.
This article analyzes perceptions of the self-efficacy of students who are from homes with low socioeconomic resources and who want to enter public high schools in Mexico City. The focus is on how certain motivations and aspirations originating in family and school environments positively influence students' choices in educational instruction, leading to stable school transitions. Field work was based on semi-structured retrospective interviews with students who were in their third year of junior high school and who were to participate in the 2012 COMIPEMS competition, and on the results from placement in the transition to high school for 89% of those interviewed. A total of 62 youngpeople were interviewed (32 men and 30 women), from seven public junior high schools located in the southern part of Mexico City. The primary results indicate that degrees of high self-efficacy are associated with students' prior positive school performance.
