Abstract
GARCIA CABRERO, Benilde et al. Las competencias del tutor universitario: una aproximación a su definición desde la perspectiva teórica y de la experiencia de sus actores. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.151, pp.104-122. ISSN 0185-2698.
This article discusses the results of an investigation on the role of mentoring in higher education institutions (HEIs). The project was carried out in two phases: the first to conceptualize the skills involved in the exercise of the mentoring function from a theoretical point of view; the second incorporated the perspectives and reflections of a group of teachers/mentors on their own mentoring practice. The study was supported by a methodology of qualitative research; analysis of the results was oriented on the basis of a phenomenographic exercise and applied to the description and interpretation of data derived from holding focus groups with mentors and experts on the subject. The integration of contributions from both phases resulted in the construction of an array composed of three dimensions, six skills and 41 indicators relating to tutoring performance in HEIs.
