In this paper the psychometric properties of the Body Image Anxiety Scale (BIAS) test were studied regarding the traits displayed by higher-education students. The sample included 2,089 freshmen subjects (902 females and 1,187 males) studying degree courses offered at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, with an average age of 18.23years (SD = 0.74). Analysis of the psychometric properties showed that a two-factor structure is both feasible and appropriate -in accordance with established psychometric requirements- when the interviewees are the students themselves. The two-factor structure - based on statistical and substantive criteria- showed adequate adjustment, reliability and validity. Furthermore, the factorial analysis -conducted with subsamples 1 and 2- indicates that the results are completely confirmatory. Future research should replicate these findings in larger samples.
