Resumen

JIMENEZ-VASQUEZ, Mariela Sonia. Graduate career paths from the Doctorate in Education at the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala: An analysis of functions, productivity and mobility in the academic market. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.143, pp.30-48. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article analyses the career paths of graduates from the Doctorate in Education at the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala, Mexico. Doctoral training has steered the graduates into diversifying their roles in higher-education institutions, whilst focusing their professional activities on the fields of research and teaching, along with the management of graduate programs. The characterization of the career paths from the functions, levels of academic productivity and occupational mobility, show that these graduates are in different stages of professional development. The most recognized careers in research have gone through a time dimension (graduate periods have increased to five years), which has enabled them to reach a level of maturity and thus results in a defined line of research. The diversification of functions and a higher level of productivity have led to greater internal and external occupational mobility in the country's educational institutions. The large majority of graduates are currently placed in senior positions in institutions of higher education.
