WILSON-CORRAL, Víctor; RODRIGUEZ-LOPEZ, Mayra; JIMENEZ GUZMAN, Jaime y NIEVES SOTO, Mario. Using intelligently the research tools for sciences, specifically for the matter of seismicity in mines: A case study. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.141, pp.115-130. ISSN 0185-2698.
The authors present here a case study of how to search for scientific information about seismicity in mines as an example of the way in which students should proceed to find relevant and up to date information, which can be applied in any area of science. In order to identify the current trends of the knowledge about seismicity in mines, the authors made use of 222 bibliographical entries of scientific papers published between 2008 and 2009, which the authors obtained by means of the HighWire Press database. For this study they made use of tools such as the scientific information managing software EndNote, the annual scientific periodicals index Journal Citation Report (JCR), and the HighWire Press data base. After generating the empirical data, they interpreted them in order to identify the current trends in the study of seismicity in mines. This working tool can be useful for students and teachers to help them develop skills to approach specific bibliography for the area they need.
