GARAY SANCHEZ, Adrián de y SANCHEZ MEDINA, Roberto Leonardo. The modification of admission policies at the autonomous Metropolitan University (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, UAM) and the changes within the academic careers during the first year of study at the Azcapotzalco-campus. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.135, pp.78-99. ISSN 0185-2698.
The purpose of this article is to identify the changes that have been taking place within the academic careers of two student generation enrolled in the first year of bachelor's degree at the UAM, and more specifically at the Azcapotzalco campus. In 2008 the University modified its admission policies and started to take into consideration, besides the score obtained during the selection test, for a 25% the average grade obtained during the high school studies. In order to carry out this study we compared the generation which enrolled at the UAM in spring 2003, following the previous entrance mechanism, with the first generation that enrolled with the new admission system in spring 2008. Using logistic regression models the authors investigated the factors that had a bearing on the spring 2008 generation in order to understand the diversity of the students' academic careers.
