SOBE, Noah W.. Mobility, modernization and Slavic relations: Education in Yugoslavia between 1920 and 1940. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.129, pp.47-63. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article studies the importance of Czechoslovakia on the modernization of education in Yugoslavia in the twenties and thirties of the 20th Century. During this period for the Yugoslavian Czechoslovakia was considered "the most advanced Slavonic nation". The Slavonic relationships made it possible for the Yugoslavian to consider Czechoslovakia as a model of kind modernity, similar and reachable. Within the domain of education, this turned into a specific vision of the "modern" child, or the child who had to become a citizen together with his/her "modern" teacher. All those ideals were molded not only following the influences that came from a specific place, but rather by means of the people's mobility, and by the circulation of the objects and ideas along the Yugoslavian and Czech interaction circles. In this sense, the article offers new methodologies and analytical strategies to deal with transnational studies within the domain of the History of Education.
