Abstract

TORRES VELANDIA, Serafín Ángel; BARONA RIOS, César  and  GARCIA PONCE DE LEON, Omar. Technological infrastructure and ICT appropriation in the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos: Case study. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.127, pp.105-127. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article analyzes the patterns of availability of infrastructure, computer equipment, as well as the methods of appropriation and use of the ICTs of the full-time professors at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM). An electronic opinion survey was applied for information gathering. The selection of participants was developed by means of a random sampling for the censual criteria of the 303 (FPT) within the different departments of higher education. The results of the study agglutinate around five ambits mediated by the ICTs and the findings confirm that the position of infrastructure and modern equipment is not synonymous of appropriation and the right use of the ICTs in the complex university educational ambits.

Keywords : Technological infrastructure; Digital equipment; University professors; Electronic surveys; ICTs appropriation; Institutional policies; Public universities.
