This article reviews some of the requirements of the university teachers' practice and recognizes that those demands respond to the commitment of the higher education institutions to take on a new vision and a new paradigm for the training of students, based on the concept of lifelong learning and with a priority orientation towards self directed learning, and learning to learn, to understand, to undertake and to be, within the framework of a globalized society. The author also analyzes teaching at the university as part of a whole of educational competences for which the theoretical and practical knowledge and the reflective activity about practice play a very important role.
