This article takes stock of the study of the use of social and educational research in order to set out some advices to the research engagement book. In this sense, the proposal entails a description of the different sectors involved in this phenomenon, the consideration of the elements that are part of the use and a lively revision of the different methodological approaches. Framed in a much wider Project about the relation between research and politics, this exercise comes away from the analysis of theoretical proposals and from the discoveries on that object of study, mainly related to political decision making and to the formulation of social initiatives. The nature of those approaches is conjectural.
