This article presents the results of a bibliometric study applied on the Perfiles Educativos review. The object of study are the published items about higher education in Mexico between 1996 and 2006. I chose as methodology one called documental sociometry, which is a qualitative model of the bibliometric studies and is oriented towards the analysis of scientific literature, and to the social structure of the groups who produce knowledge as well. Along this period 64 were published, signed by 54 authors, which gives on average 1.4 articles per capita. The collaboration relations between the different authors are poor, since more than 80% of the publications are individually signed. The kind of knowledge spread by this review focuses on few subjects and the methodology is mainly documental. As a whole, what can be found is a poor knowledge about higher education in Mexico, its daily practices and from the point of view of its own institutional actors.
