SANTOS GUTIERREZ, Sinesio C.  e  LOPEZ SEGRERA, Francisco. Cuban revolution and higher education. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.116, pp.85-112. ISSN 0185-2698.

: The Cuban higher education subsystem is made up of 65 higher education institutions and 3 150 local offices. The gross enrolment rate for the year 2006-2007 is 63% and thanks to the so-called universalization of university we are reaching the 620 000 students enrolled. Cuban higher education has as main feature its huge social pertinence, since it has met appropriately the main needs of professionals required by the country for its own production, service and research, and in order to fulfill its solidarity aid commitments with other countries, specially for what regards education and public health.

Palavras-chave : Indicators; Higher education; Cuba; Typology; Challenges; Universalization.
