For the purposes of this research, the author observed the teaching of 16 teachers in single-teacher and two-teacher schools in Oaxaca and Guerrero. The data analysis is divided into three steps: the analysis of two contrasting cases, the comparison between the 16 cases and the pedagogical reflection about them. The results identify the teachers' strategies to organize their work. Then the author discusses about the potentials and limitations of the national policies and the international recommendations, recommending a comprehensive and specific support for the teachers who work in that kind of schools.
