In the Porfirian Mexico some physicians denounced in their writings an exacerbated social threat of the insane criminals, mentioning that they were capable of "monstrous" acts. However, to get into the life stories of some individuals who were categorized by legist physicians and judges as insane criminals, we find that their acts neither were monstrous, nor demonstrate have a so explicit madness, point that was expressed by the guard physicians of the San Hipólito Hospital for the Insane. Face is how scientific discourse of the time to clinical reality.
