This article studies the general features of doctoral dissertations on bilateral relations between Mexico and the United States written in both countries between 1975 and 2005. Doctoral dissertation index cards allow one to track the changes that have taken place over the past thirty years as regards research issues and perspectives, as well as certain characteristics of academia in Mexico and the United States.
