This article examines the origins of Jehovah's wit-nesses settlement in Mexico, since the organization of their first congregation in Mexico City in 1919 to their great assemblies in 1944. It also studies two religious dissident groups: one organized around "El Ángel de Jehová" temple, formed by the Mexican followers of the Swiss religious leader Alexandre Freytag; the other one is the ephemeral Asociación Nacional de Estudiantes de la Biblia. It also suggests that the Jehovah's witnesses, a new abroad religious minority, could settle down in Mexico thanks to the conflict between the Church and the State, and to the protection the revolutionary governments gave to non-catholic Christian organizations.
