Abstract

MUMARY FARTO, Pablo Alberto. Reinterpreting information from the dynastic vessels of the Kaan ajawo'ob. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2016, vol.47, pp.95-117. ISSN 0185-2574.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ecm.2016.47.741.

The vessels known as "dynastic vases" conform a group of around 17 ceramic vases, characterized by the presence of epigraphic texts. These texts include a list of rulers, which are assumed to belong to the Kaan dynasty, beginning with its hypothetical founder. Considering the work done at the end of the 20th century by several researchers, like Robicsek, Hales and Martin, we will reanalyze the epigraphic information registered in two of these vessels. Thus, we will be able to propose new readings and, consequently, present information that had not been considered earlier.

Keywords : Glyph of Serpent's Head; Calakmul; Classic Period; codex style vessels; Yuhkno'm Ch'e'n II.
