COVARRUBIAS REYNA, Miguel; BURGOS VILLANUEVA, Rafael e PALOMO CARRILLO, Yoly. Dzilam González: A Socio-political Control Site in the Northern Central Coast of Yucatán. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2014, vol.44, pp.203-228. ISSN 0185-2574.
Despite it has been known for more than a century and a half, Dzilam Gonzalez is an important archaeological site that has been left into oblivion, and it also has been badly plundered and looted, as it is located within a colonial and modern settlement. Dzilam was an ideal economic control center because of it's strategic position between Izamal and the north coast of Yucatan. It's political privileged position lasted through time, even during the social changes that occured in late periods and also at the conquest. This paper sinthetizes the results of the first stage of research at this site, as well as contributions of other regional studies.
