CUCINA, Andrea  e  ORTEGA MUNOZ, Allan. Biological Affinities of the Oxtankah Population in the Yucatán Peninsula Regional Sphere along the Classic Period. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2014, vol.44, pp.59-84. ISSN 0185-2574.

In this paper we present an analysis of dental morphological traits of 73 adult individuals of both sexes from the Early Classic to Late Postclassic period site of Oxtankah (Quintana Roo). Because of its geographical location, the city played a major role at regional level in trade exchange along the coast and inland from the Preclassic times to the end of the Classic. The purpose of this study is to explore the biological affinities between this community and other coeval ones in the Yucatan peninsula. It aims at putting this human group into the context of regional population dynamics related to terrestrial and maritime trade as well as migratory patterns.

Palavras-chave : biodistance; dental morphology; Oxtankah; Peten; Late Classic.
