This paper analyzes the jeroglyphic inscription of the jadeite earspools that were part of the funerary regalia of the Palenque ruler K'inich Janahb' Pakal. It is proposed that the texts of such ornaments relate to Chaahk and Yopaat, deities associated to rain and lightning. These deities were closely linked to each other and with god K'awiil. The records of the first deities relate to Pakal's afterlife identity, considering that after his death he was judged as a sacred incarnation of K'awiil. The text also notes that the earspools were a tribute of O'-Kan, a dignatary from Lah, a foreign locality affiliated to Piedras Negras' dinasty. These ornaments must be part of a larger lot of jadeite pieces that would have been used to make other ornaments of Pakal's funeral garb.
