Resumen

ROCHER SALAS, Adriana. Entre el cordón de san Francisco y la corona de san Pedro: La administración parroquial en Yucatán. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2004, vol.25, pp.149-168. ISSN 0185-2574.

This study analyzes the role played by the priest parish as the main link between the Spanish and the Native worlds during the Colony in Yucatan. Under the assumption that the relevance of the clergy was closely linked to his capacity to keep the native population within the limits set by the Colonial regime, the performance of both the secular priests as well as the franciscan friars on the parish management of the Native communities will be analyzed; their different strategies to guarantee the loyalty of Native people to both majesties, God and the King, will also be under scrutiny.
