The classical sociological tradition has not considered language a central problem, as opposed to contemporary sociology which has raised the need to focus on the study of human language in order to understand the social and institutional reality. From Habermas to Luhmann, going through Giddens and Bourdieu, sociologists have shed light on this exclusively human activity that creates our “world”-to use a Heideggerian expression. However, they have not focused strictly on the analytical philosophy, though this tradition is the one that has given a better account of human language. Current sociology, then, must take its central arguments to develop a better understanding of social and institutional reality.
