In the context of Information and Knowledge Society (IKS) and global capitalism's world crisis, this work addresses the problems of the digital gap as an expression of inequalities in the 21^st century. The precedents of the boom that this process began to gain in the last years of the 20^th century are presented, as well as the proposals and projects developed by Latin American countries in order to build this new social order. The structural nature of the digital gap problem is emphasized, understanding it as a "new inequality." The fundamental transformations of this concept are pointed out and, based on statistic data, some broad analysis points on the digital gap in Latin America and Mexico are presented.
