Abstract

CORNEJO PORTUGAL, Inés. La radio cultural indigenista en México: dilemas actuales. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2010, vol.52, n.209, pp.55-66. ISSN 0185-1918.

This article examines three of the most relevant research periods on indigenous radio, arguing that this branch of broadcasting has forged a model of communication without precedent in the country or region. It identifies as well, the main characteristics of the aforementioned radio format: interaction with an audience that participates through culture and language, and the reactivation of meaningful cultural repertoires implicit in the words that recreate elements of a native identity. Finally, the article also discusses new challenges that this kind of broadcasting is now facing,( migrant radio, social uses of cellular phones, internet); of how to rethink its content in the context of a more egalitarian relationship, and how to provide spaces for contemporary cultural manifestations emanating from the regions involved, among others

Keywords : indigenous radio; research on indigenous radio; model of communication.
