The present text reviews different concepts on economy and public policies referring them to the performance within the field of cultural television in Mexico. His proposal parts from a historical review which gives place to the course taken by the networks under study. The concept of public television includes the different manifestations of a system whose central objective is not profit. It shows a 2007 instantaneous, consisting of quantitative data of the public networks in Mexico.
