The central point of this article is to show that the theory of political culture follows and is based to a certain extent on the theories of the personality developed widely in the field of social psychology; more specifically, the text aims to demonstrate that the concept of civic culture is the result, in a certain way, of an authoritarian personality, introducing into political science some of the explicative limitations that this concept has in the field of psychology.
