In this article, the autor examines the impact of the Holocaust on Israel’s collective and social imaginary, where it exists as a subject carrying an extremely heavy emotional and ethical load. The article examines how the Holocaust, with all its catastrophic weight, became memory but also a tool for the construc-tion of the national identity in Israeli society. In the same light, the article analyzes how an intimate relation between the Holocaust and the Middle East Conflict comes about. Understanding these processes becomes central if the achievement of an effective pacification process between Arabs and Israelis is set as a goal.
