Decision-making processes are privileged occasions for the analysis of associations, because they put organizations in motion and tension. In addition, it is in these processes that purposes are built, activities are coordinated, conflicts are processed, and the course of action is established. That is why the analysis of decision-making processes is an excellent criteria to describe the performance of an organization, and to construct a typology of associations like the one that is offered here. In this article a relation is established between, on the one hand, ways of decision making, and on the other, the legitimacy and the effectiveness of those decisions. These two last criteria are suitable for evaluating the political performance of associations.
