Abstract

PEREZ CALDENTEY, Esteban. A critical analysis of two heterodox theories of inflation in Latin America (1960- 1990). Inv. Econ [online]. 2002, vol.62, n.242, pp.127-158. ISSN 0185-1667.

This paper provides a critical analysis of the theoretical underpinnings of two heterodox theories of inflation, the structuralist and inertialist theories of inflation. Both theories were developed as a response to the quantity theory. However, their analysis of inflation relies on market imperfections weakening their argument for an alternative theory of inflation.
