Abstract

DELGADO WISE, Raúl  and  RODRIGUEZ RAMIREZ, Héctor. The collective migrant front to the challenges of local and regional development in Mexico. Inv. Econ [online]. 2002, vol.62, n.240, pp.77-101. ISSN 0185-1667.

Considering the economic and social strategic importance reached by Mexican migration to the USA, this essay analyzes succinctly some crucial issues regarding: a) the crucial role played under the aegis of neoliberalism by labor exportation; b) the main qualitative changes experienced by the migration phenomenon during the last two decades; c) the emergence, in this context, of the collective or organized migrant; and d) the potential contribution of this new agent to local and regional development.
