Resumen

GARCIA, Brígida  y  OLIVEIRA, Orlandina de. Socioeconomics changes and work specialization in the mexican families. Inv. Econ [online]. 2001, vol.61, n.236, pp.137-162. ISSN 0185-1667.

Toe central interest of this article is the analysis of the transformations that are taking place in the division of work by gender and generation in Mexican families, taking into consideration extradomestic and domestic work as well as children's care. On one side, our basic aim is to document the rapid changes that are taking place and the type of modifications occurring in extradomestic work. On the other part, we present evidence about the existing inequality in the participation of men and women in reproductive work (domestic tasks and children's care) and examine sorne changes that are beginning to take place in this sphere of family life.
