This paper analyzes the concept of human capital as something more than education. Original intuition, empirical reference and uses evolution are analyzed. Toe importance of the concept is derived from the rupture of three theoretical paradigms: physical capital as unique source of growth; unskilled labor as a requisite for productivity growth and the need for growth to accomplish income distribution.
