Abstract

PADAWER, Ana  and  RODRIGUEZ CELIN, Lucila. Ser del monte, ser de la chacra: experiencias formativas e identificaciones étnicas de jóvenes rurales en el noreste argentino. Cuicuilco [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.62, pp.265-286. ISSN 0185-1659.

This article examines the formative experiences related with rural youth's identification processes and projects of future. We work with indigenous people (Mbyà Guaraní) and with heirs of the colonization process happened in the first half of the twentieth century, who sometimes share elementary intercultural and bilingual schools. Significant social and territorial transformations have been produced in such space during the twentieth century, since a frontier zone of forest was progressively occupied by farmers and large states devoted to forestry, displacing indigenous people. We analyze in this article how this social and historical transformations have influence in youth's formative experiences and projects of future, related with nowadays contrastive ethnic identifications. The article is based in a fieldwork conducted since 2009 in San Ignacio township, where we have made reconstructions of everyday social reproduction activities of families, using audiovisual modes of registration and interviews with children, young people and adults, and interviews with local civil servants and agrarian technicians, as well. We have made participant observation at everyday activities in a rural intercultural and bilingual elementary school, its two annexed buildings at two mbyà communities, and a secondary agricultural school, where we also have made open interviews with students and teachers.

Keywords : indigenous people; rural life; ethnic identifications; formative experiences; youth.
