The article studies thought on femininity, using the accounts of gynecomorphous appearances in different indigenous communities of Mexico as its basis. It focuses on devouring and other forms of annihilation as recurrent elements in those stories. Using the premise that the association between mouth and vagina is connected to the pairing of the concepts of eating and copulating, the idea is developed that even when devouring is not found in a context of seduction or copulation, it holds a sexual meaning. In parallel, these appearances represent the inverted concept of the social woman which is used for controlling behavior.
