In the East of Hidalgo, from the Highlands to the mountainous region, the ritual use of the so-called "Santa Rosa", adjective that refers both to the Cannabis indica and the Datura stramonium, is part of praxis that perform the bädi, otomi term meaning "who knows". Transient states of consciousness that is reached through the intake of the "Santa Rosa" or "medicinita" as is say by the otomi of Santa Ana Hueytlalpan, call it "sing", zitheni in otomi, which indicates that an entity by means of its power, nzahki, locates itself in the shaman's body and communicates through "singing" with the emitter. This experience confirms the body as the focal point of the shamanic practice to be recipient of the power conferred upon the divine when it is inserted into the body of the bädi. Through the "Santa Rosa" the shaman can "see" beyond the phenomenal world and travel through the several levels of the universe to establish communication with all entities of the world "other". In this context, the notion of "seeing" refers to the cognitive capabilities of the bädi.
