Abstract

GARCIA MENDEZ, Erika. Political representation of women in Mexican sub national legislatures. An evaluation model. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2019, n.46, pp.73-98.  Epub May 27, 2020. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2019.46.68289.

The present study aims to analyze from a comparative perspective the political participation of women in subnational congresses in Mexico during 2018. The analysis is carried out from two dimensions: the descriptive representation and the substantive dimension of the representation. The findings show that women's access to subnational congresses is growing, as a result of the implementation of the political-electoral reforms of the last 15 years; however, there are still gender biases in the equal access of women in the areas of the legislative process and decision-making spaces and parliamentary leadership

Keywords : Mexico; gender parity; subnational congresses; legislative commissions; political representation.
