Abstract

SOLIS SANCHEZ, Ismael. The chieftaincy in Mexico: the other side of Mexican democracy. The case of urban despotism on the State of Mexico. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2016, n.37, pp.167-192. ISSN 0185-1616.

This article presents an analysis of the emergence and consolidation of the chiefdom in public transport organizations at the northeastern of the state of Mexico. From the analysis of this case, it concludes that the current presence of despotism as a form of exercise power in a personalistic and arbitrary way is one of the challenges of democracy in Mexico.
