Resumen

HERNANDEZ, Gerardo. The political advantage of independent candidates and legislative reelection. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2015, n.36, pp.125-142. ISSN 0185-1616.

In this article the author answers the question of who gain political advantage with independent candidates and legislative reelection at the federal level. The hypothesis is that interest groups with great economic power would possess this advantage, rather than citizens. And gives one example, the post of President of the Republic, which would be the most representative figure to define that stakeholders would have the economic capacity to promote their own candidates and use them as a bargaining chip in closed elections such as the one which took place in july of 2012.

Palabras llave : Democracy; political parties; institutional change; political rationality; mexican political system.
