The present work focuses on the study and edition of an anonymous description from the end of the 18th century of the structure and images of the main altarpiece of the monastery of San Jerónimo de Granada, one of the emblematic works of Andalusian sculpture during the Renaissance-Baroque period. The aforementioned document is related to the publication in 1800 of the Ceán Bermúdez Dictionary of Artists, since it was used as a source of information in this regard, at the request of the Granada-born painter Fernando Marín Chaves, director of the School of Noble Arts in Granada and member of the Royal Academy of San Fernando. Brief unpublished notes by the same anonymous author, a friar of said monastery, on the altarpieces creators, will also be commented.
