Abstract

RODRIGUEZ SALDANA, Elsa. Imágenes del actor colectivo: Una aproximación a la dinámica de las marchas de protesta en la Ciudad de México. Nueva antropol [online]. 2010, vol.23, n.72, pp.81-101. ISSN 0185-0636.

In this article, the author provides an in situ description of protest marches in Mexico City, and attempts to formulate an approach to such protests' internal dynamics. To this end, she begins with the idea that, for their participants, marches afford a way of forming a supra-individual entity. Thus, in multi-sectoral actions, such gatherings are further divided into units of action, i.e., groups that are usually claiming specific identities and which, metaphorically, operate as collective actors. The descriptive procedure proposed throughout this text entails an identification of the visual and auditory resources underpinning the configuration of the collective actor's image in sequences such as ritualized presentations.

Keywords : marches; protest; semiotics; collective actors.
