The various means of expression of Mexican popular art are a clear demonstration of the role and relevance of culture in people's material life. Such is the case of the popular toy, through which we can appreciate its presence as part of the family traditions of those who manufacture them. We approach the topic of crafts in Mexico within a historical context, and then move on to the study of popular art in Guanajuato state and particularly of the local popular toy, using the opinions of classical authors on folk art such as Dr. Atl and Daniel Rubín de la Borbolla, and above all, of the artisans consulted for this research.
