This article presents a cultural model based on the analytical description of the local/regional circulation process of salt and fish in the lagoons of Tecomate, Chautengo and Pozahualco that defines a micro-region in the Costa Chica of Guerrero State. The main actors in this model are members of the local groups of African origin who settled in these towns and created a complex network of social relations of reciprocity and commerce. An account is made of the changes registered in 2007 as a result of environmental changes and of economic crises that combined to almost end this production system that has been registered since pre-Columbian times.
