Resumen

VILALTA, Carlos J.. Geographical Variations in the Perception of the Threat of Organized Crime and Drugs Trafficking Mexico. Foro int [online]. 2015, vol.55, n.3, pp.846-878. ISSN 0185-013X.

This study presents the correlatives of the perception of drugs trafficking and organized crime as a threat to the country. Based on the surveys for Mexico, the Americas and the World in 2008, 2010 and 2012, it shows that national and regional perceptions changed significantly over this period and that this variation cannot solely be explained by the socio-economic composition of each region. This invites us to carry out contextual analyses of the Mexican regions and vindicates the capacity of geography to understand the variation in the perceptions of threats and problems relating to public security.

Palabras llave : drugs trafficking; organized crime; public security; geography; public opinion.
