Resumen

GARCIA-BURGOS, Enrique et al. Profiles of enzymes associated with resistance to pesticides in Melanaphis sacchari (Zehntner) in the South of Guanajuato. Acta Zool. Mex [online]. 2022, vol.38, e3912441.  Epub 25-Abr-2022. ISSN 2448-8445.  https://doi.org/10.21829/azm.2022.3912441.

The yellow aphid (Melanaphis sacchari) is a pest that has rapidly spread throughout Mexico, especially in states with high sorghum production. According to the Guanajuato State Plant Health Committee (CESAVEG), Guanajuato reported a high incidence of this insect that caused severe losses in sorghum crops. At present, the most frequently used method for the control of this pest is the application of chemical products. For this reason, it is now possible to detect resistance to the insecticides used. One way to determine the presence of a metabolic resistance mechanism in M. sacchari present in the study area is by determining the absorbances to obtain an enzymatic profile of the pest. For this reason, the objective of this research was to determine the enzymatic profile that the main enzymes present in the nymphs collected in the southern area of the state of Guanajuato, corresponding to the municipalities of Acámbaro, Apaseo el Alto, Apaseo el Grande, Celaya, Cortázar, Jerécuaro, Juventino Rosas, Tarandacuao, Tarimoro, Villagrán, and Yuriria. The results showed that the enzymes with the highest presence associated with resistance were α-esterases, β-esterases, esterases, and oxidases.
